Clive Charlton - ‘The Remarkable Ernestine Edgcumbe (1843-1925)’.  She never married and lived and lived at Cotehele House with her widowed mother for many years.  She had many interests including travel and politics. Her diary and journals remain as an interesting and entertaining source.

Rupert Kirkwood - ‘A Kayak Safari around Devon and Cornwall’  Video and photographic account of 20 years of coastal kayaking around the south west coast.

Alex Leger - ‘I Bet This Never Happened To You’  An account of filming around the world with the BBC and the fascinating situations he found himself in.

Suzy Bussell - Scones, Secrets and Sleuths: A Devon Writers Life in Mystery Writing.  What happens when tea, cake and crime collide?  
May 18th
Felicity Goodall - ‘Lost Devon’ Forgotten Stories from Devon’s Past.  This talk provides a fascinating insight into Devon’s history.
June 15th
Nigel Grist - ‘Dartmoor Industries’  Nigel’s talk will explore the many industries that took place on Dartmoor, including peat works, China-clay, Tin, Granite, and Bunnies.  Plus a few lesser known enterprises.
July 26th
Simon Dell MBE- ‘Tyrwhitt’s Tramway Across Dartmoor’  Simon will talk about the horse drawn tramway built in the 1820s from Plymouth to Princetown.
August 17th
Andrew Thompson - ‘From Druids to Drones’  A history of archaeology on Dartmoor.
September 21st
Nick Clyburn - ‘An Expert Guide to Air Traffic Confusion’  Nick, a former RAF officer will demystify the confusing world of Air Traffic Control.
October 19th
Robert Hesketh - ‘Devon Inns’  Robert will delve into the stories behind the names of Devon’s inns.  He will also illustrate how the sign painters art is still very much alive.
November 16th
Chris Robinson - ‘The History of Plympton’  Chris is an expert on the history of Plymouth and provides talks and guided tours of the city.  His book titled The History of Plympton was published in 2025 and his talk will take us through this fascinating story.
December 21st

Monthly meeting and speaker diary 2026
Our meetings are held at the Watermark, Erme Court in Ivybridge on the third Monday of each month (apart from Bank Holidays) starting at 2.00pm. We begin with opening comments from our Chairman followed by group leaders notices.  We then have a talk from a speaker, the subjects are many and varied (details below).
